"If theatre is your thing then go to see WEST. You might not
get another chance in Christchurch to see a play by Steven Berkoff. A legendary
figure in British theatre, an actor, director, and playwright known for
his difficult and ego-driven personality, Berkoff writes like there
is no tomorrow. His combination of poetic metaphor and rank earthiness
is as dazzling as it is original....."
"..Sylvia Barnes and Ian Lester, as the downtrodden mum and
dad, are neatly convincing, and Jay Versteeg, as Sylv, the attractive moll, does
a fine job. Tom Trevella, as top dog Mike, has a demanding role which he
pulls off really well. His monologues are enthralling. At the end when he
puts the bite on the audience he truly brings out the import of Berkoff's
message."

"The play centres around Mike, the 'King of Stamford Hill',
a gang leader portrayed with frightening physicality and tenacity by Tom Trevella...."
".. grabs you by the scruff, beats you about, and spits you,
dazed, back out onto Rolleston Ave. Bloody Marvellous.."
